The General Staff Accountant reports to the Director. Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organizations, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for 200+ pays using ADP Workforce Now
  • Develop and maintain GL download from ADP
  • Process payroll journal entries in a timely manner
  • Accounts Payable related to Benefits and other employee expenses
  • Process monthly journal entries
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
  • Support the financial statement process
  • Assemble information for internal & external auditors
  • Provide information to the external accountant who creates the company’s financial statements
  • Assemble information for internal & external auditors
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain budgeting reports
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Maintain vendor relationships

Skills and Competencies:

  • Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. FLSA), rules, regulations and systems of internal control; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations
  • High level working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now
  • High level working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).
  • Hands-on detail-oriented tasks.
  • Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.


  • At least 2 solid years of accounting/audit/payroll experience


  • Accounting or Finance degree a strong plus

Salary (to be awarded based on background and experience):

  • $35,000 – $45,000 a year plus benefits
